Strength & Glow 60+

Care for skin that's earned it

Strong, comfortable, glowing skin on its own terms. Gentle renewal, deep care, and the forgotten zones included.

Ongoing. Comfort in weeks. Renewal over months.

This is for you if…

  • Skin is thin, dry and marks at the slightest knock
  • Hands and neck gave the game away before the face did
  • 'Anti-ageing' adverts insult you and under-deliver
  • You want strength and glow, not a promise to look 40
  • Rich creams finally feel as good as they sound

What’s going on

Skin at 60 and beyond is thinner, drier and slower to renew. It still answers to good care, beautifully. The method changes, that is all. Protection and rich feeding come first. Renewal comes gently. Nothing harsh earns a place.

The goal is not turning back a clock. It is skin that feels strong, looks lit, and does not bruise or flake at everyday life. Three threads run through it. Everything gentle. One soft renewal step. And full care for hands, neck and chest — the zones that worked hardest and got the least.

What causes it

  • Years of collagen decline. Thinner skin marks and creases more easily.
  • Very little oil now. The skin runs on what you give it.
  • Slow renewal. Glow needs patience, not force.
  • The sun ledger. Decades of light, showing up as marks. SPF still changes the path from today.
  • Some common medicines dry or thin skin further. Worth one GP chat.

The plan at a glance

Daily

  1. Soft cleanse, layered water, barrier cream. The Shift routine carries on.
  2. SPF50+ to face, neck and chest. Lotion on hands after washing.
  3. Eyes and lips get their own steps.

Evenings, 2–3 times a week

  1. Gentle renewal. Low-dose retinol, or the PDRN route if retinol has never been a friend.

The steps

The cleanser downshift

Morning & evening

Washing that stops taking what your skin no longer spares

A soft, low-pH gel cleans without stripping. That matters more now than ever. Menopausal skin makes a fraction of the oil it used to. It cannot afford to lose any.

Why it matters: The foam that served you for decades did not get worse. Your oil supply changed underneath it. The tight, squeaky feeling that once meant 'clean' now means 'overdrawn'. This swap is the biggest single win of the protocol.

How to do it: Lukewarm, gentle, 30 seconds, pat dry. In the morning, water alone is genuinely enough for most drier skins now.

How to choose between these

Haruharu's 5.5 gel is the soft default. Rovectin's Aqua gel is the barest option for very dry or very reactive spells.

Layer water back in

Morning & evening

The water your skin used to make, applied instead

Hyaluronic toners return the water your skin no longer holds so well. Layered on damp skin, they do the filling work that makes everything after them look better.

Why it matters: Menopausal dryness is a supply problem, not a product failure. The fix is adding water on purpose, in layers, daily. Two thin layers beat one thick one.

How to do it: Press the first layer into damp skin after washing. Add a second where skin still feels tight. The seven-skins method exists for exactly this skin.

How to choose between these

Torriden's Dive-In is the multi-depth classic. Haruharu's Black Rice toner has a slightly richer feel some drier skins prefer.

Feed the barrier

Morning & evening

The fats your skin stopped making, delivered daily

Ceramide and beta-glucan creams restock the fats your skin no longer supplies itself. The difference between skin that feels fragile and skin that feels solid.

Why it matters: This dryness is not surface-deep. The skin's wall is getting fewer raw materials. Feeding it directly, daily, on damp skin, is the core of the whole shift.

How to do it: On damp skin after the water layers, morning and evening. Thicker at night. This is the step never to skip on a lazy day.

  • Ceramides

Aestura 365 is the ceramide flagship. iUNIK's Beta-Glucan 3X is the deeper-moisture route when skin wants even more cushion.

Renew — gently, on your terms

Evening

Renewal that respects thinner skin

A low-dose retinol cream, or a PDRN cream, supports the renewal that slows with age. At strengths chosen for skin that no longer forgives harshness.

Why it matters: Mature skin gains MORE from renewal than young skin. And tolerates force LESS. The answer is not skipping renewal. It is the gentle lane.

How to do it: Retinol route: start twice a week at night, over moisturiser if needed, and build slowly. Flaking means slow down. PDRN route: nightly, no build-up needed. Either way, morning SPF makes it count.

  • Retinoids
  • PDRN

Goodal's Vita-A retinol cream is the classic gentle entry. Dr. Althea's PDRN Reju 5000 is the no-sting route. The modern answer for skin that wants renewal without any bite.

Eyes, morning and night

Morning & evening

Real care for the thinnest skin you own

Eye creams deliver water and firm-support in textures made for skin about ten times thinner than your cheek. Rich enough to work. Light enough to stay put overnight.

Why it matters: The eye area has almost no oil glands. And it moves with every blink and smile. It dries first and creases first. Your face cream helps, but it was not built for this ground.

How to do it: A grain of rice per eye. Dab along the bone with your ring finger — the gentlest one, on purpose. Pat, never drag. Morning and evening.

  • Peptides

Isntree TW-Real is the classic cream route. The AXIS-Y collagen serum is the lighter feel if creams sit heavy under concealer.

Lips, overnight

Evening

Wake up without the flaky-lip peel

Lips cannot seal themselves. They have no oil glands at all. An overnight lip mask does the sealing for them, slowly, through the night.

Why it matters: Daytime balms get licked and sipped away within the hour. The eight-hour night window is when a lip treatment can finish its work.

How to do it: A generous layer as the very last thing before sleep. Think frosting, not film. Once or twice a week is plenty for most. Nightly in winter.

How to choose between these

The Laneige mask is the famous one, sweet and rich. The COSRX ceramide butter is the skincare-first pick. The Torriden essence is the lightest, fine for daytime too.

Hands, neck, chest — the tell-tale trio

Morning & evening

The zones that show age first, finally on the payroll

Extends your face routine's logic to the three zones that spent decades in sun and washing-up water with none of the face's protection.

Why it matters: Nothing dates skin like the gap between a cared-for face and forgotten hands. Closing that gap costs one lotion and two habits.

How to do it: Morning: run your face SPF down the neck and chest. Two fingers grows to three. Through the day: hand lotion after washing, kept by every sink. Night: the evening's leftover cream goes to the backs of your hands.

Protect

Morning

The one step that beats every serum

SPF50+ blocks the daily sun that drives early lines, dark marks and skin damage. Including through windows, and on cloudy British days.

Why it matters: For a beginner, sunscreen gives more long-term benefit than any fancy ingredient you could buy. Skipping it quietly undoes the other three steps. It is a habit from day one in every plan we publish.

How to do it: Two finger-lengths for face and neck, as the last morning step. Top up if you are outdoors for long. Yes, even in winter.

How to choose between these

BEAUTY OF JOSEON Relief Sun is the loved everyday classic. Light, dewy, no white cast. HARUHARU Pure Mineral if your skin is very reactive. Mineral SPF sits on top of skin, so it is the gentler choice.

What to expect

  • Weeks 1–2 — comfort. Flaking and tight patches settle.
  • Months 1–3 — glow. Renewal at the gentle pace shows as evenness and light.
  • Months 3–6 — the hands-and-neck project closes the gap that shows age most.
  • Always — a mark that grows, bleeds or will not heal goes to the GP that week. Skin checks are routine at every age.
