Calm Haven Beauty didn't begin with a business plan. It began with a mother, a kitchen table, and a love for family that refused to compromise. Faced with challenges that made traditional work impossible, we turned years of sensitive skin flare-ups, ingredient mishaps, and hard-earned lessons into something more: a business built on real understanding. For us, and for you.
The Beginning at Our Kitchen Table
Svetlana Sichman never imagined that her love for Korean skincare would become more than a personal hobby. As the mother of an autistic son, traditional full-time employment wasn't an option. Between therapy appointments, individualised education plans, and everything that comes with raising a child with unique needs, Svetlana found herself searching for a way to contribute financially whilst remaining present for her family.
What started as late-night scrolling through Korean skincare Facebook groups became something deeper. In those online communities, Svetlana discovered not just products, but a passion that would change everything. Like many K-beauty newcomers, her initial enthusiasm led to mistakes, too many acids on already-sensitive skin, damaged barriers, and the frustration of loving ingredients that her reactive skin simply couldn't tolerate.
But those mistakes became her education. Every skin reaction taught her something new about cosmetic chemistry. Every failed product led to deeper research about ingredients, their interactions, and what truly works for sensitive skin. What began as personal necessity evolved into genuine expertise.
From Passion to Purpose
When Svetlana realised her skin's sensitivity to fragrances and essential oils, common culprits in so many beloved products, she started wondering. If she was struggling to find gentle yet effective skincare, how many others were facing the same challenge?
Starting from their kitchen table, Svetlana began curating products with the same care she'd want for her own family. Each item was researched, tested, and selected based on one simple principle: it had to be gentle enough for the most sensitive skin, yet effective enough to deliver real results.
Growing Together
For over six months, Svetlana built everything on her own, learning how things work, where to source the best products and supplies, and mastering every aspect of the business from the ground up. The business grew steadily, built on the trust of every customer who tried Svetlana's carefully chosen products.
That's when I, Jan, joined the mission. With my background in Systems and Logistics, we started putting together the whole system and slowly growing the business product by product, brand by brand, order by order. All whilst I was still working my full-time job. Together, we transformed what began as a one-woman operation into a family business built on authenticity, care, and deep understanding of what sensitive skin truly needs.
