A short, real avoid list. A gentle routine that carries on. Extra care for the bump and the sun.
Nine months and a bit. Then see The Fourth Trimester.
This is for you if…
- You are pregnant and suddenly unsure about every bottle
- Every search result argues with the last one
- Your skin is doing new things — drier, itchier, blotchier, or spottier
- The bump itches
- You would rather have three clear rules than forty open tabs

The steps
Know the avoid list (it's short)
Morning & eveningThree rules, and the worry is handled
Clears the fog. In pregnancy: no retinol or its family (the one hard rule). No strong salicylic acid leave-ons. Go easy on heavy essential oils. Nearly everything else in gentle skincare carries on.
Why it matters: Pregnancy skincare worry comes from not knowing where the line is. So everything feels risky. Three checkable rules replace a fog of doubt.
How to do it: Check your shelf once against the list. Rest what matches until later. Run everything else as usual. Unsure about a product? Ask your midwife or GP. Always the right answer, including over ours.
Cleanse
Morning & eveningClean skin without the tight, squeaky feeling
Removes oil, sweat, sunscreen and the day's grime at pH 5.5. That is your skin's own level. Washing takes off the day, not your skin's protection.
Why it matters: This is the step most people get wrong first. A harsh wash quietly causes the tightness and flaking the rest of a routine then has to fix. Start gentle and half of 'problem skin' never happens.
How to do it: Evening: massage gently for 30 to 60 seconds in lukewarm water. Rinse, pat dry. Morning: a lukewarm rinse is enough if your skin leans dry.

How to choose between these
Both sit at skin's own pH, so pick by feel. The HARUHARU gel is soft and non-foaming. The safest pick if your skin ever feels tight after washing. The Soon Jung foam gives a light lather if you like a little foam.
Hydrate
Morning & eveningThe first drink of water your skin gets all day
A Korean toner is not the harsh splash your parents used. It is a light layer of water-grabbers. It returns moisture the moment washing ends, and gives your cream something to seal in.
Why it matters: Freshly washed skin loses water fast. Watering it within a minute is the simplest habit in skincare with the most visible payoff.
How to do it: While skin is still damp, pour a little into your palms and press it in until absorbed. Palms, not cotton pads.
- Panthenol
- Hyaluronic Acid
Pick the one you want. You can also add another product from this step.
How to choose between these
Soon Jung if your skin often feels upset. Its panthenol calms while it hydrates. HARUHARU's hyaluronic toner if tightness is your main feeling.
Comfort the stretch zones
Morning & eveningLess itch where skin is working hardest
Skin stretching fast over the bump, hips and chest loses water quicker and itches. Rich, simple creams keep it comfortable through the stretch.
Why it matters: No cream can promise to stop stretch marks. Genes hold that pen. But well-moisturised stretching skin is truly more comfortable. And the itch is the part you feel every day.
How to do it: A generous layer on bump, hips and chest after every shower. Again when the itch starts. Unscented matters more than usual right now.
- Ceramides
- Panthenol
Pick the one you want. You can also add another product from this step.
How to choose between these
Derma:B for the big areas. Pump bottle, unscented, made for space. The Aestura 365 for the itchiest patches. Rich and clinical-grade gentle.
Protect — mineral, and more than ever
MorningYour best defence against the pregnancy mask
Pregnancy hormones prime your skin to make dark patches. The patches appear when that priming meets sun. Daily SPF50+ removes the sun half of the equation.
Why it matters: This step gets MORE important during pregnancy, not less. Dark patches are far easier to prevent than to fade. The window is now.
How to do it: Two finger-lengths every morning, all year, cloudy or not. Mineral formulas suit pregnancy-sensitive skin. They sit on top of skin and rarely sting.
Pick the one you want. You can also add another product from this step.
