Mugwort Calm
The bitter herb that soothes
Korea's oldest calming herb in a small, quiet routine. Three daily layers, one weekly soak, steadier skin.
A calmer baseline in 2 to 3 weeks. The ritual is the point from day one.
This is for you if…
- Skin flushes and blotches when life gets loud
- Stress weeks show on your face before your calendar
- Centella is fine but you are curious about the older tradition
- Small routines appeal — fewer bottles, more intention
- The word 'ritual' sells you faster than the word 'active'

The steps
The mugwort wash
Morning & eveningWashing that starts the calming early
A low-foam gel built on mugwort. It washes gently while laying down the herb this whole protocol is named for.
Why it matters: For stressed, reactive skin, the wash is the riskiest moment of the day. Folding the calming herb into it turns the risk step into the first caring step.
How to do it: Lukewarm water, 30 to 60 seconds, fingertips only, pat dry. Morning and evening.
- Mugwort
The ssuk essence
Morning & eveningOne ingredient, doing exactly one job
A single-ingredient mugwort essence. The distilled herb, nothing else. It calms visible stress and blotchiness while watering the skin lightly.
Why it matters: Less is this protocol's medicine. Reactive skin does best with fewer variables. A one-ingredient essence is as few as skincare gets.
How to do it: Press generously into damp skin after washing, morning and evening. Layer twice in stressed weeks. It is built for that.

The herb soak (weekly)
WeeklyThe bathhouse tradition, sized for a Tuesday night
A weekly mugwort mask — a wash-off herb paste or a soaked gauze sheet — gives stressed skin its long soak in the calming herb. The home version of the bathhouse steam.
Why it matters: Reactive skin collects stress through the week. The weekly soak resets the baseline, so the daily routine works on calm ground. It is also the quiet heart of the protocol.
How to do it: Wash-off: 10 to 15 minutes, lukewarm rinse. Gauze sheet: 15 to 20 minutes, pat the rest in. Either way: seal after, phone elsewhere.
- Mugwort
Pick the one you want. You can also add another product from this step.
How to choose between these
I'm From's mask is the full wash-off herb experience. Isntree's gauze mask is the gentler soak for very reactive weeks.
Moisturise
Morning & eveningSeals the water in, morning and night
Puts a light layer of fats and water-grabbers over the toner. The water you just added stays in your skin instead of drying off.
Why it matters: Water without a seal fades within the hour. The moisturiser turns steps one and two into lasting comfort.
How to do it: A pea-to-hazelnut amount pressed onto still-damp skin. Press and smooth, do not scrub it in. A little more at night is fine.
- Oat
- Centella Asiatica
Pick the one you want. You can also add another product from this step.
How to choose between these
The Purito Oat-In gel if you are combination-to-oily or dislike creams. Oat calms, and the gel disappears into skin. The Purito centella cream if you are normal-to-dry or your skin runs reactive.
