The Glow Calendar

Four weeks, one calendar, maximum defensible glow

The four-week plan before a big date. Daily brightening, weekly renewal, calm final week. Peak skin on schedule.

A 4-week plan. Reusable whenever a date demands it.

This is for you if…

  • An event is four to six weeks away and you want your best skin
  • You own the products but not the schedule
  • You always do too little, then panic-do too much the week before
  • You want the plan sequenced by someone else
  • Deadlines motivate you (this plan uses that)

What’s going on

Glow has three levers, each on its own clock. Water peaks in days. Surface renewal takes one to two weeks. Tone takes four to six. Peaking them together for a date is a scheduling job. That is why the panic facial the week before so often backfires. The fast lever got yanked. The slow ones never started.

The calendar sequences it. Brightening starts on day one — the slowest clock. Renewal runs weekly through week three. Week four goes gentle-only: hydration masks and sleep, with nothing new or strong near the date. Peak skin arrives on time, no last-minute gambles.

What causes it

Why pre-event skin plans fail:

  • The week-before facial. Strong treatments need recovery time the calendar no longer has.
  • New products five days out. Reaction roulette with photos booked.
  • No sequence. All three levers pulled in week four, when two needed a month.
  • Stress. The event taxes the skin the plan is polishing. Sleep is on the calendar for a reason.

The plan at a glance

Weeks 1–3

  1. Daily: niacinamide brightening plus SPF. The slow clock, started early.
  2. Weekly: one acid evening and one hydration mask night. Separate nights.

Week 4 (peak week)

  1. Acids stop. Hydration masks twice. Sleep like it is skincare, because it is.
  2. Night before: sheet mask, then sleeping pack. Morning of: rinse, hydrate, light seal, glow.

The steps

Brighten

Morning & evening

Glow that builds week by week, no acids involved

A niacinamide serum evens tone and adds glow the patient way. And it supports your skin's wall while it works. That is why beginners cannot really get it wrong.

Why it matters: Dullness has two parts. Uneven surface and uneven tone. Niacinamide works the tone half without the irritation bill that acids charge.

How to do it: After toner, before moisturiser. Morning or evening, or both. Steady use is the active ingredient. Daily for six weeks beats double-dosing for two.

  • Niacinamide
  • Propolis

How to choose between these

BOJ Glow Serum (2% with propolis) is the gentle entry. Isntree's 20% is the advanced tier. Work up to it. APLB's ampoule sits between.

The weekly acid

Weekly

Unglues the dull layer. Once a week is the whole trick

An exfoliating acid dissolves the glue holding old surface cells on. The newer surface underneath shows through. Quick smoothness, building glow.

Why it matters: Skin renewal slows with age, stress and thirst. Dull, rough skin is old cells overstaying. One well-dosed acid evening does what daily scrubbing pretends to. Without the damage bill.

How to do it: One evening a week to start. On dry skin after washing. Nothing else strong that night. Hydrate and seal after. Go to twice weekly only after four comfortable weeks. Morning SPF is part of the deal.

  • Exfoliating Acids

How to choose between these

BOJ's Green Plum toner is the mildest entry. Isntree's Chestnut AHA 8% is the proper weekly tool. epii's PHA toner is the sensitive-skin lane. PHA is the biggest, gentlest acid.

Soak

Weekly

Twenty minutes of deep watering your skin cannot get any other way

A sheet mask pins a watery essence against your skin and stops it drying off. Twenty minutes of cover that pushes water in far better than hands can.

Why it matters: Once a week, not daily. Daily soaking can upset skin. That is how a calming ritual becomes a new problem. Weekly, it is the best water top-up in skincare.

How to do it: On clean, toned skin. Fifteen to twenty minutes. Never until the mask dries — a drying mask starts pulling water back OUT. Peel, pat the essence in, seal with the next step.

  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Centella Asiatica

How to choose between these

Pick by this week's need. Thirsty skin: the Torriden or Isntree hyaluronic masks. Cranky, reactive week: Anua's heartleaf, BOJ's centella, or Pyunkang Yul's calming mask. There is no prize for using the same one every time.

Protect

Morning

The one step that beats every serum

SPF50+ blocks the daily sun that drives early lines, dark marks and skin damage. Including through windows, and on cloudy British days.

Why it matters: For a beginner, sunscreen gives more long-term benefit than any fancy ingredient you could buy. Skipping it quietly undoes the other three steps. It is a habit from day one in every plan we publish.

How to do it: Two finger-lengths for face and neck, as the last morning step. Top up if you are outdoors for long. Yes, even in winter.

How to choose between these

BEAUTY OF JOSEON Relief Sun is the loved everyday classic. Light, dewy, no white cast. HARUHARU Pure Mineral if your skin is very reactive. Mineral SPF sits on top of skin, so it is the gentler choice.

What to expect

  • Week 1 — the groundwork is in. Nothing visible yet. Everything started.
  • Weeks 2–3 — texture smooths, tone lifts. The plan compounds.
  • The date — full water, smooth surface, brightened tone, zero last-minute risks. That is as good as honest skincare gets. And it is genuinely good.

Do & don’t
