Gentle Renewal

Your first exfoliation — once a week, not once a day

One acid evening a week. Smoother skin in days, real glow in weeks, and your skin never pays for it.

Smoother after 1 or 2 uses. The full rhythm settles by week 6.

This is for you if…

  • Skin feels rough or bumpy, never quite smooth
  • Glow products help for a day, then it is back
  • Foundation clings to dry patches
  • You have never used an acid, or once used far too much
  • The word 'peel' both tempts and scares you

What’s going on

Your skin sheds old cells all the time. But the shedding slows with age, stress and thirst. Old cells overstay and the surface turns rough and dull. Exfoliating acids dissolve the glue holding those old cells on. Smoothness now, glow over weeks.

The whole skill is the dose. Once a week transforms texture. Once a day causes the damage our repair protocols exist to fix. This protocol teaches the weekly rhythm, the acid families — AHA for surface glow, BHA for pores, PHA for sensitive skin — and the care that follows each acid night.

What causes it

  • Slower shedding. The cell exit queue grows with every decade.
  • Thirst. Dry cells do not detach cleanly. They cling and flake.
  • Sun. It thickens the dead outer layer while thinning the living one.
  • Scrubs. Rough scrubbing makes tiny tears that heal rough.
  • The cruel loop. Daily acids strip the skin, texture worsens, you scrub harder.

The plan at a glance

Acid night (weekly)

  1. Cleanse, dry fully.
  2. The acid — toner or essence. Nothing else strong tonight.
  3. Hydrate and seal, generously.

Alternate weeks or event eves (optional)

  1. The peeling gel polish instead of the acid.

Every morning

  1. SPF50+. Fresh skin is sun-shy skin. This pair is a package.

The steps

The weekly acid

Weekly

Unglues the dull layer. Once a week is the whole trick

An exfoliating acid dissolves the glue holding old surface cells on. The newer surface underneath shows through. Quick smoothness, building glow.

Why it matters: Skin renewal slows with age, stress and thirst. Dull, rough skin is old cells overstaying. One well-dosed acid evening does what daily scrubbing pretends to. Without the damage bill.

How to do it: One evening a week to start. On dry skin after washing. Nothing else strong that night. Hydrate and seal after. Go to twice weekly only after four comfortable weeks. Morning SPF is part of the deal.

How to choose between these

BOJ's Green Plum toner is the mildest entry. Isntree's Chestnut AHA 8% is the proper weekly tool. epii's PHA toner is the sensitive-skin lane. PHA is the biggest, gentlest acid.

Polish (the satisfying option)

Weekly

The visible-results night, used honestly

A peeling gel rolls up surface debris and old cells as you massage. Gentle polishing with a before-your-eyes effect.

Why it matters: Optional, and it alternates with the acid night. Never joins it. Its honest role: quick smoothness before events, and the small win that keeps a renewal habit alive.

How to do it: On clean, dry-ish skin, massage light circles for 30 to 60 seconds. Rinse. Alternate weeks with the acid, or save for the night before occasions. Never on upset skin.

Hydrate

Morning & evening

The first drink of water your skin gets all day

A Korean toner is not the harsh splash your parents used. It is a light layer of water-grabbers. It returns moisture the moment washing ends, and gives your cream something to seal in.

Why it matters: Freshly washed skin loses water fast. Watering it within a minute is the simplest habit in skincare with the most visible payoff.

How to do it: While skin is still damp, pour a little into your palms and press it in until absorbed. Palms, not cotton pads.

  • Panthenol
  • Hyaluronic Acid

How to choose between these

Soon Jung if your skin often feels upset. Its panthenol calms while it hydrates. HARUHARU's hyaluronic toner if tightness is your main feeling.

Moisturise

Morning & evening

Seals the water in, morning and night

Puts a light layer of fats and water-grabbers over the toner. The water you just added stays in your skin instead of drying off.

Why it matters: Water without a seal fades within the hour. The moisturiser turns steps one and two into lasting comfort.

How to do it: A pea-to-hazelnut amount pressed onto still-damp skin. Press and smooth, do not scrub it in. A little more at night is fine.

  • Oat
  • Centella Asiatica

How to choose between these

The Purito Oat-In gel if you are combination-to-oily or dislike creams. Oat calms, and the gel disappears into skin. The Purito centella cream if you are normal-to-dry or your skin runs reactive.

Protect

Morning

The one step that beats every serum

SPF50+ blocks the daily sun that drives early lines, dark marks and skin damage. Including through windows, and on cloudy British days.

Why it matters: For a beginner, sunscreen gives more long-term benefit than any fancy ingredient you could buy. Skipping it quietly undoes the other three steps. It is a habit from day one in every plan we publish.

How to do it: Two finger-lengths for face and neck, as the last morning step. Top up if you are outdoors for long. Yes, even in winter.

How to choose between these

BEAUTY OF JOSEON Relief Sun is the loved everyday classic. Light, dewy, no white cast. HARUHARU Pure Mineral if your skin is very reactive. Mineral SPF sits on top of skin, so it is the gentler choice.

What to expect

  • The morning after use one — noticeably smoother to the touch.
  • Weeks 2–4 — makeup sits better. The dull-by-Thursday pattern breaks.
  • Week 6 — smoothness is maintained, not chased. Comfortable throughout? Twice weekly is your ceiling. More stops helping exactly here.
