The Barrier Reset

For skin that stings at everything you apply

Steady skin first, glow later. One quiet month gives your skin its shield back.

4 weeks. Very sensitive skin may need 6.

This is for you if…

  • Most products sting or burn when you apply them
  • Redness after washing takes a long time to fade
  • Skin feels tight and squeaky after you wash
  • Flaky patches and oily patches at the same time
  • You have been using acids or scrubs too often

What’s going on

Your skin has a thin outer wall. Think of bricks and mortar. The bricks are tiny skin cells. The mortar is made of natural fats called ceramides. This wall keeps water in. It keeps irritants out.

Harsh washing and strong products wear the mortar away. Water then leaves your skin too fast. Things that never hurt before start to sting. Your products did not get stronger. Your wall got thinner.

What causes it

  • Washing too much. Harsh, foamy cleansers strip the wall a little more each time.
  • Scrubbing too often. Daily acids or scrubs remove skin faster than it can grow back.
  • Too many strong products at once. Each one asks a lot of your skin.
  • Hot water. It melts the fats your skin needs. That tight feeling after a hot shower is real.
  • Cold weather and indoor heating. Dry air pulls water out of your skin.
  • Fragrance and drying alcohols. They keep the wall from healing.

The plan at a glance

Morning

  1. Cleanse — the HARUHARU rice gel. It matches your skin's own pH. Lukewarm water only.
  2. Calm — the PURITO centella toner. Press it in with your palms. No cotton pads.
  3. Repair — the PURITO centella serum. Two pumps over your whole face.
  4. Seal — the AESTURA cream. Apply while skin is still damp. This traps the water in.

Evening

  1. Cleanse — the same gel. Wore sunscreen or makeup? Melt it off first with a gentle cleansing oil.
  2. Calm — the toner, same as morning.
  3. Repair — the serum.
  4. Seal — the cream, a little thicker. Two or three nights a week, swap it for the Dermide sleeping pack.

The steps

Cleanse

Morning & evening

Clean skin without stripping it

Washes away oil, sweat and the day at pH 5.5. That is your skin's own level. So washing removes the day, not your skin's wall.

Why it matters: A reset starts by ending the damage. Most sore skin is being re-stripped twice a day by harsh foam. Switching to this gentle gel is the biggest single change in the protocol.

How to do it: Lukewarm water only. Massage gently with fingertips for 30 to 60 seconds. Rinse. Pat dry with a clean towel. No rubbing.

Melt first (when wearing SPF or makeup)

Evening

SPF and makeup off without rubbing

Dissolves sunscreen and makeup on contact. They lift away with no scrubbing.

Why it matters: Removing SPF with a water-based wash alone means rubbing. Rubbing is wear your healing skin cannot afford. The oil does the work so your hands do not have to.

How to do it: Dry face, dry hands. Massage for about a minute. Add a little water and massage until milky. Rinse, then follow with the gel cleanser.

Calm

Morning & evening

Water and calm before anything else touches your skin

Puts water back into freshly washed skin. And delivers centella, the calming herb this product line is named for.

Why it matters: Damp, calmed skin accepts the next steps without stinging. Serum on dry, upset skin is the most common reason people think a product 'does not suit them'.

How to do it: Pour a few drops into your palms. Press into the skin. No cotton pads. They add rubbing.

How to choose between these

The centella toner is the default for reactive skin. Very dry instead? The Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner adds more water.

Repair

Morning & evening

Strong calming support while the wall rebuilds

A rich dose of centella. It soothes reactive skin and supports your skin's own repair.

Why it matters: During a reset your skin is working hard to rebuild. This step backs that work up. No acids, no demands. Just help.

How to do it: Two pumps over the whole face while skin is still damp from the toner.

How to choose between these

The centella serum is the core pick. If centella has ever upset your skin, the HUECALM water-light serum is the alternative.

Seal

Morning & evening

Puts back the exact fats your skin is missing

Delivers ceramides — the fats your stripped wall lost. And holds everything underneath in place while it rebuilds.

Why it matters: This is the rebuilding step itself. Everything before it prepares the wall. This one refills the mortar. It is why the protocol is built around this cream.

How to do it: Apply to slightly damp skin, morning and night. Use a slightly thicker layer in the evening.

  • Ceramides

How to choose between these

The Atobarrier 365 is the anchor. Ceramides, built for exactly this job. The Purito centella cream is the lighter option if 365 feels too rich in summer.

Overnight seal

Weekly

Eight quiet hours of repair

A thicker overnight layer. It slows water loss to a crawl for eight hours straight.

Why it matters: Sleep is the longest repair window your skin gets. Extra cover through that window, two or three nights a week, speeds the whole reset.

How to do it: Two or three evenings a week, use a thin layer in place of the cream as your last step.

What to expect

Skin heals at its own pace. Most people notice changes in this order:

  • Week 1 — products stop stinging. The tight feeling after washing eases.
  • Weeks 2–3 — redness settles faster. Flaky patches soften.
  • Week 4 — skin feels calm and steady. If nothing stings and redness is rare, you can slowly add more.

Very sensitive skin can need six weeks. That is normal. Take the extra time.
